I frequently shoot for this wonderful organization that seeks to empower the people of South Sudan, the world's newest country. And I am returning in August 2014 to gather new images and stories of hope and renewal for a people facing poverty, disease, and a new threat... civil war. I always try to provide low/ no cost work for Seed Effect, because I believe deeply in what they are doing, so please join with me and Seed Effect, and make a difference in the lives of our brothers and sisters in South Sudan.
Seed Effect is a modest force that generates a significant effect. You invest with them and together you can plant the seeds that overcome poverty.
Seed Effect is a Christ-centered, nonprofit microfinance organization. Their mission is to plant the seeds that overcome poverty by providing access to microloans, education, and spiritual discipleship in marginalized communities around the world. In action, Seed Effect serves as a holistic tool to live out the Great Commission alongside the Great Commandment as they empower the poor to know and follow Christ, plug into the local church, and overcome physical poverty.
Seed Effect Manifesto
"We issue a seed loan to a struggling entrepreneur. They invest in their business. Along the way, we promote community, accountability, education, stewardship, and Truth. Now they can provide food, clean water, school fees, and healthcare for their family. With the interest earned, we can issue another seed loan to another entrepreneur. In essence, the effect continues. The effect multiplies. It’s that simple. It’s the Seed Effect."
Seed Effect is an agent of change. It starts with a life. It impacts a family. It transforms a community.
Please consider giving to this worthy cause!
Seed Effect is a 501c3 non-profit. All donations are tax-deductible.
A Visual Adventure into the Heart of American Wilderness
In August/ September of 2015, Elle and I will travel to The Wind River Range in Wyoming. It is located just South of Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks in a phenomenally beautiful part of the state. We will set off from the Big Sandy trailhead at the Southern end of the nearly 100 mile long range. The next 2-3 weeks, we will traverse the rugged and beautiful Winds, eventually making our way out at the northern end of the range at Green River Lakes. All the while taking the time necessary to create stunning and emotional still imagery with nearly 100 lbs of my own camera gear. Unique and evocative, creative and awe-inspiring. I have spent a lot of time in those mountains, so I already know a little of what to expect. The end result will be a collection of masterwork images, the culmination of all that I have learned in my 12+ years of professional experience.
The second piece to this project though, is for me, one of the most exciting and unknown. I will self produce and shoot a documentary. Part photographic instruction, part adventure-reality, and part editorial-poetry, the documentary will follow our movements from preparation to post-trip recap, and everything in between. Down to the details of how I produce the best images, to how Ellen and I deal with the stresses and hardships of life on the trail, unpredictable weather, physical strain, animal encounters, etc.
